The coin comes encapsulated from the manufacturer Perth Mint.
The Australian gold coin, also known as the Australia Nugget, was first issued by the Perth Mint in 1986. The name resulted from the sensational discovery of the "Welcome Stranger Nugget" in 1869 with a fine weight of over 72 kilograms. This nugget adorned the gold coin as a motif from 1986 to 1989.
The period in which this nugget was found is also known as the Victorian Gold Rush. The name is derived from the place where it was found, the Australian state of Victoria. During the gold rush from 1851 to the end of the 1860s, the population tripled and a new era began in Down Under. Even today, the country is still one of the best-known and most important resource countries in the world.
Since 1990, the most famous Australian animal - the kangaroo - has been minted in annually changing motifs on the side of the bullion coin. As is customary at the Australian mint Perth Mint, the reverse of the coin bears the face of Queen Elizabeth II with the corresponding face value of 100 dollars.
The coin is legal tender in Australia.
Since the 2016 issue year, the kangaroo has also been available as a 1 oz silver bullion coin.
The fineness is 999.9/1000.
